May 27, 2010 - A team of nine representing Daymark Solutions joined over 2,000 other runners on Sunday, May 23, 2010 for the first annual Run to Home Base 9K race. Sponsored by the Boston
The Daymark Team, comprised of seven employees and two family members, contributed $9,400 to the $2.4 million raised. All funds were donated to The Home Base veteran program, which was created by the Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital to assist returning veterans. Working in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, The Home Base program supports and serves veterans who are experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties readjusting to civilian life following deployment.
Chief of Staff of the Army General George W. Casey, Jr. was on hand to greet the runners and the fans who came out to cheer them on. The course started outside Fenway Park, traveled along the Charles River, and eventually brought the runners past the park's Green Monster and finally across home plate.
"This was a great experience, and we are all thrilled that we were able to help the veterans and their families in some small way," said Daymark General Manager Brian Casey, who participated in the run. "As a company and as individuals, we are always looking for ways we can lend a hand to others in our community. Running in this race for the veterans from this area was truly an honor. We are so thankful for the sacrifices they have made for all of us."
